Hair loss is a respecter of no man and woman. Even the rich and influential people experience this defect a lot. A lot of causes are attached to this defect. In women, the most significant causes are genetics and pregnancy. When this defect is genetically attached in a family bloodline, there is no way it won't surface as the woman grows up.
Several prevention modes are available but, the insatiable demands of women concerning their beauty and hair, have called for treatment when the hair has been lost. The kind of treatment most women want is the type that will make them have a full hair on their head.
During the pregnancy period, a woman goes through extreme state of stress. Extreme stress has been known to be one of the causes of hair loss. Several mental and physical transitions maybe experienced after pregnancy. This is due to alterations in the woman's body hormone that occurred during the pregnancy period. These alterations vary from woman to woman, depending on the care taken during this period and the body type. Statistics show that about 75% of women experience loss of hair after this period.
Thus, losing hair after pregnancy has become an inevitable phenomenon for most women. Losing hair after pregnancy has its reasons. A normal woman sheds about 100 strands of hair daily. A pregnant woman sheds less than this normal amount because of the hormonal changes that are occurring in her system. Also, research and statistics shows that, about 10-15% of the hair on the scalp are in the resting phase, for a normal woman. Any hair in this phase will easily fall off when brushed. The pregnancy period causes an increase in the level of some hormones in a woman's body. These hormones are oestrogen and progesterone. Their increased level makes it unable for hair to fall, thus; hairs in the resting phase are moved to another phase that will protect them. Eventually, the hair on the scalp will grow thicker during the period of pregnancy. After the pregnancy period is over, the body starts to stabilize these hormones to their normal levels. Thus, the resting hair in the protected phase will rapidly experience a transit to the resting phase and hence; they will fall off quickly.
The loss of hair is always severe and scanty but, it doesn't lead to baldness. A woman is, therefore, expected to handle her hair steadily after her delivery period is over. Hair growing activities should be employed too. It is true, a woman experiences hair loss after pregnancy.
